Moncayo

The highest peak of the Iberian System and a natural park with beech and oak forests and good views of the Ebro valley. Ideal for simple routes with the family leaving from the Interpretation Center of Agramonte

The essentials

  • Recommended starting point: Agramonte (parking, panels and signposted routes).
  • Easy routes: Beech forest (spectacular autumn) and Agramonte botanical trail.
  • Viewpoints: several marked points on the northern slope with views of the valley.
  • Preparation: water, hat, warm layers and closed shoes; in winter the summit can be technical.

Suggested itinerary (½ day)

  1. Arrival in Agramonte and walk through the beech forest (easy circuit).
  2. Picnic/snack in a shady area and short climb to a nearby viewpoint.
  3. Return quietly along the botanical trail.

Check the warnings of the Natural Park and, if you want updated information, the Agramonte Center. In winter/spring the upper area can be dangerous: if your plan is just a family walk, stay on the marked routes of the lower part
