Beech woods and easy walks on the magic mountain

The highest peak in the Iberian System and a natural park with beech forests, oak woods and great views over the Ebro valley. Ideal for easy family walks starting from the Agramonte Visitor Centre.

From Casa Bardena Negra: about 50–60 minutes by car from Fustiñana. On the way you can stop off in Tarazona or at the Monastery of Veruela (≈43 min from the house).

The essentials

  • Recommended starting point: Agramonte (car park, information boards and waymarked trails).
  • Easy walks: the Beech Forest trail (spectacular in autumn) and the Agramonte Botanical Trail.
  • Viewpoints: several signposted spots on the northern slopes with views over the valley.
  • Be prepared: water, a cap, warm layers and closed-toe shoes; in winter the summit can be technical.
With kids: stick to the waymarked trails on the lower slopes; the beech forest walk and the botanical trail are easy and very rewarding for little ones.   1. Arrive at Agramonte and walk through the beech forest (easy circuit).
  2. Picnic or snack in a shady spot and a short climb to a nearby viewpoint.
  3. A gentle return along the botanical trail.

Before you go: notices and regulations

Check the Natural Park notices and, for up-to-date information, the Agramonte Centre. In winter and spring the upper slopes can be dangerous: if you're only planning a family walk, stay on the waymarked trails lower down.
