A unique semi-desert landscape, declared a Biosphere Reserve, with badlands, hills and ravines that seem from another planet. From the house you will reach in a few minutes to the main accesses (Arguedas / Carcastillo)

The essentials

  • Best first contact: the perimeter circuit of the Bardena Blanca, a ~25 km track by car (≈2 h with stops) that goes around the most iconic points, including Castildetierra.
  • Must-see photo: the fairy chimney atCastildetierraand its surroundings (signposted parking next door)
  • When to go: early morning or late afternoon to avoid heat and get better light.
  • Basic preparation: water, hat, sunscreen, closed shoes. After rains, mud sticks a lot; check warnings before going out.
